X-Ray Fluorenscence analysis of medieval and post- medieval glazes, undertaken by J. Bayley, Ancient Monuments Laboratory.

Samples of medieval and post-medieval glazed wares from London and the study region were analysed by J. Bayley. The London samples are identified by their Common name and fabric number. The actual sherds are in the Department of Urban Archaeology Fabric Reference collection. The study region samples, numbered from 1 to 55 are in the possession of the author. All these counts are normalised for lead at 7000 counts. The relative proportion of elements is not in a direct relationship to their XRF counts. The inside surface of some vessels was examined by XRF and traces of lead and high iron counts were obtained. No other metals were detected.
