Alan Vince Archaeological Consultancy

Unpublished reports: 'grey literature'

Like most archaeological consultancies we produce a large number of unpublished reports, some of which may end up in an edited form in formal publications whilst others will be deposited with site archives.

Unless otherwise agreed, the copyright of these reports resides with the consultancy and, unless they contain commercially-sensitive material, we will be making them available via the World Wide Web, allowing a decent interval for the client to publish the report on paper first.

This policy should ensure that no useful information is buried in unpublished archives.

Cleeve Abbey

As an example, with the permission of the client, I have pre-published a report on the analysis of the medieval floor tiles from Cleeve Abbey (Somerset), which is now published on paper as an appendix to Jane Harcourt's paper on these tiles.

AVAC Reports

The Consultancy was started during 1997 and produces 30 to 40 reports per year. Gradually, these are being published online in PDF format.

At present, only those for 1997-98 are online.
